ASSISTANT SUPERINTENDENT

Fresh Meadow is an 18 hole private facility located in Lake Success New York.  The golf course is a par 70 spanning 6850 yards, with a putting green, teaching facility/driving range and a, soon to be, new short-game area.  Greens and fairways are poa/bent mixture with greens being predominantly poa annua.  The golf course is comprised of 40 acres of fine turf, 100 acres of maintained rough and 70 intensely manicured bunkers.  We are currently in year 1 of our 3-year bunker renovation plan, where we are recapturing the original perimeters of our bunkers and adding new sand.  We are currently in the process of building a full scale 3.5 acre brand new short game practice area and grass driving range tee, which is set to open later this spring.  We are also moving forward with a complete tee renovation which will complete our master plan.   We are looking to add an Assistant Superintendent to our management team who possesses a great work ethic and is willing to advance in their career.  The ideal candidate will exhibit attention to detail, an eagerness to go above and beyond to exceed membership expectations and be able to work cohesively within our current team.  Most importantly a willingness to learn and grow.

 

This Assistant Superintendent will experience a full, hands-on approach to learning and developing skills to become a successful Superintendent.  He or she will be involved in everything from spraying and mixing, to managing a crew of 15-17 employees, to running our Toro Lynx irrigation system.  They will be involved in planning and implementing the IPM program and future construction planning.  This position will set the right candidate up will all the tools to become a confident and successful Superintendent.

 

Educational Requirements: Two- or Four-year degree in Turfgrass, Agronomy, Golf Course Management or any related field.

Experience Requirements: 2-5 seasons working as an assistant, AIT or spray/irrigation technician.  Willing to train and work with a candidate with lesser experience.

Salary: $25-$30/Hour
