ASSISTANT SUPERINTENDENT

 

Indian Hills Country Club is a private club on the north shore of Long Island. Designed and built by Alfred Tull in 1961. Indian Hills showcases dramatic elevation changes and waterfront views of the Long Island sound. Indian Hills is undergoing several renovation projects on the golf course as well as the construction of a new clubhouse.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Support the Superintendent in overseeing daily maintenance of the golf course and clubhouse grounds, including practice facilities and landscaped areas.

• Assist in planning, executing, and monitoring agronomic practices, including mowing schedules, chemical applications, irrigation, and pest/disease management.

• Provide supervision, training, and development of grounds staff to promote team engagement and continuous improvement.

• Take a leadership role in crew management and communication, ensuring high standards of execution.

• Monitor and adjust irrigation systems for optimal turf health and water efficiency.

• Collaborate with equipment manager to ensure proper use and care of machinery.

 

 

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Certificate or degree in turfgrass management a plus.

• Minimum 2 years of experience in golf course maintenance; supervisory experience preferred.

• Strong understanding of modern turfgrass science, irrigation systems, and course conditioning strategies.

• Willingness to work flexible hours including early mornings, weekends, and holidays as needed.

• Bilingual in Spanish is a plus but not required.

• Pesticide Applicator’s License or ability to obtain within 90 days.

 

 

COMPENSATION:

$90k-$115k DOE
