ASSISTANT SUPERINTENDENT

 

COURSE DESCRIPTION- St. George’s Golf and Country Club continues to gain notoriety through yearly restoration back to its original 1917 Devereux Emmet design. Located in Stony Brook NY, Emmet’s home course is centrally located on Long Islands north shore. Constant undulated terrain, distinct green complexes, and quirky nuances make St. George’s a fun place to play and maintain.

 

POSITION OVERVIEW: Assist the superintendent alongside our current assistant in daily course

and staff management. Recently installed rainbird IC system and revolving lease of John Deere

equipment allows us to focus not only on daily maintenance but constant improvements to the golf course.

Experience ongoing renovation work, future new maintenance facility construction, and daily high end

conditioning. Work in an efficient, low stress environment with a great crew and membership. Learn

each and every aspect of course management to move up within St. George’s, and eventually into a

head superintendent role.

 

QUALIFICATIONS: Certificate/degree in turf management or related field a plus. Ability to obtain NYS pesticide

license. Spanish speaking a plus. Valid driver’s license. Strong leadership and organizational skills.

 

COMPENSATION: DOE $70k-$90k with room to advance, Health benefits, 401k available, performance

bonus, dues paid for local and national associations. Vacation and sick time, lunch provided by club, uniforms,

golfing privileges. Possible vehicle and/or housing for the right candidate.
