North Hempstead Country Club

North Hempstead Country Club is a private, 1916, AW Tillinghast designed golf course located on the north shore of Long Island. The club is a full amenities country club with a very active playing membership and house membership.  Over the last 15 years the club has made many improvements to the golf course and its infrastructure.  We are always looking to improve upon the member and guest experience.  In 2021 the club hired Joel Weiman, golf course architect with McDonald and Sons, to develop a plan for extensive golf course improvements over the next 5 years.  These improvements will be all encompassing.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES: The assistant’s responsibility is to work with the superintendent and staff to make NHCC the best it can be while learning how to manage a golf course in the northeast.  In turn, our job is to best prepare you as best we can for advancement and success in this profession.  As your experience and skills set evolves so too will your responsibilities and freedom managing the golf course.  The right candidate will leave this position fully prepared to become a superintendent.  We are a forward-thinking staff— good communication skills are necessary, as is a willingness to learn, listen, share your thoughts, take notes and come to work with a positive attitude every day.

 

QUALIFICATIONS: Experience working on a golf course

 

COMPENSATION: 80-85k. Performance bonus. In-season- 50–60-hour work week in season. One day off per week. 40-45-hour work week in shoulder months.  Weekends off unless a snowstorm.  5 days’ vacation year one, 2 weeks year two.  Holidays worked will be accrued for added vacation time in the shoulder months. Work apparel after successfully completing 1 month of work.  National, local association dues and continuing education after 1 year of employment.
