The Muttontown Club is an 18-hole private country club established in 1962 and designed by architect Alfred Tull. It is located on the north shore of Long Island, 30 minutes from Manhattan. The position of Assistant Superintendent is very expansive; the selected candidate will be exposed to all aspects of golf course maintenance, from daily tasks all the way up to project planning, etc. Upcoming projects include things such as installation of greens drainage, bunker renovation, tee construction, greens expansion, as well as many more in following years. We are looking for an individual who is enthusiastic about fine turf management with a strong desire to learn and advance in the industry. We have an experienced agronomy team and are looking to add to it with a well-rounded, hard-working Assistant Superintendent. The Club is owned and operated by Concert Golf Partners, whose rapidly growing portfolio provides a strong network and room for advancement within the company.
Duties include, but are not limited to: coordinating with Superintendent and team members to accomplish tasks in an efficient manner, disease/pest scouting and determining appropriate solutions, irrigation monitoring and maintenance in accordance with turf needs, assist in proper and continued crew training, record-keeping and being accountable for supplies/ordering, as well as all normal agronomic practices such as spraying, fertilizing, mowing, course set-up, etc. Most of all, we are looking for an open communicator who can take direction and run with it. It is a team environment, and we are looking for an individual who can be a strong leader within the team and help advance our operation.
Minimum Associate’s Degree from two-year/technical school; will consider “short-course” turf certificate if accompanied by satisfactory field experience. Must have experience/ability to learn to operate all turf equipment in a safe manner, understanding of both the game of golf and private club mentality, desire on delivering high-quality turf with an emphasis on continued improvement, being proficient in basic accounting, forecasting, as well as written and oral communication skills, New York State pesticide applicator license or ability to obtain one within 90 days, valid drivers license, knowledge of Spanish language helpful-but not required.
$$$: 60,000 - 70,000
