MAINTENANCE GROUNDSKEEPER

 

A high-end estate in Oyster Bay, NY is looking for a professional with building and landscape maintenance experience to join our team full time. We are in charge of the upkeep and maintenance, and ensure proper functionality of all aspects of the property. This position is 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday, 8:30am-5pm with half hour unpaid lunch.

 

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Daily checks of HVAC systems to ensure working order. Fixing any problems or assisting Property Manager in coordinating an outside contractor. Weekly checks that all household accessories are in working order (doorknobs, drawer handles, light bulbs, etc.). Fixing any accessories that are broken. Performing fixes and maintenance in the categories of: light plumbing, electrical, mechanical, carpentry, and painting. Performing landscaping tasks. Includes mowing, weeding, trimming, watering, pruning, planting, and other activities as needed. Fertilizer and pesticide applications on lawn and ornamentals with tow behind sprayer. Keeping outdoor living spaces, furniture, and equipment clean at all times. Power washing sidewalks, gutters, walls, patios, decks and more. Assisting in organizing basements and garages. Ensure vehicles and toys are gassed, charged, and fluids are full.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

Previous work experience on a private estate highly recommended. Work in similar fields may be considered. Schooling in HVAC, electrical, plumbing, mechanical, or any similar trade a plus. High end landscape experience a plus. Must be experienced in light plumbing, electrical, mechanical, carpentry, and painting. Must have general knowledge of HVAC and mechanical equipment. Must know how to operate common power tools. Must be a team player and willing to help as needed regardless of the task. Always striving to improve the way things are done so they are most effective. Must be professional, proactive, reliable, responsive while having respect for boundaries, privacy, and confidentiality of the family. Must be an organized self-starter with attention to detail, and follow through on projects from start to finish. Must be flexible with work schedule during the winter to help with snow removal and to work potential holiday parties (4th of July, Labor Day, or other potential events). Ability to work in all weather and temperature conditions. Valid Driver's License required and legally eligible to work in the United States. Ability to regularly handle heavy manual labor including lifting, pushing, and pulling objects/machinery up to 50lbs. Must pass a background check and drug test.
